A very ordinary cup of coffee with no obvious flaws, but also nothing interesting. I think it has been better in previous shots I suspect a bit of over extraction might help, but its a long time since roast, so probably best to use it up. Also see the note below which will have affected flavour.
Note that I made a mistake by warming up the coffee machine with a profile that had a 96C baseline. I switched profile, but did not wait long enough for the temperature to drop to the 90C required for this one. It ended up starting about 3.5C above spec. Try again with the same settings, but correct temperature and possibly grind very slightly finer.
Slightly darker than the Brazil Toucan. Crushes easily under the thumb, but not too many fines produced. Slight hints of surface oil on a few beans.
After trying to brew this for 4-5 shots now I strongly suspect this coffee is not fresh and that tghe roast date is not honest. It gives a weak watery coffee with poor mouth feel. It also blonds very early.
I like CherryDog coffees, but they don’t put the roast dates on the bag and twice now I have bought 3 bags of coffee only to be told they were all roasted on the same day and exactly a week ago.
