I read something that said that an underextracted columbian decaf would taste vegetal and I had been getting a vegetal oiliness, so decided to go hotter, longer (33g) and finer (1.2.0). It still ran quit equikc with first drops in around 4s, but the total time wasn’t bad.
From the shot glass there was a slight acidity and the oiliness remained, but was less. In the milk it was better, especially as it cooled and there was an oily bitter after taste, but not to strong or unpleasant. The shot was a little weak and lacks any real kick.
Next shot needs to be the same, but grind even finer at 1.1.5 - thats the fines I have ever ground which is interesting considering this is a darker roast.
This shot also show a pressure drop after about 12 seconds which there shouldn’t be as the flow rate is only about 1.4-1.5 gms/s and the flow rate limit is at 1.8 gm/s. It should be able to maintain pressure at that flow rate so I suspect the Gaggimate flow rate limit is cutting in too early. I will trun it aoff dor the next shot to see if it still happens. perhaps sensing some hidden spike in the data?
