| Bean: Note | Las Perlitas has been a favorite for us since we first tried samples a few years ago. We have tried multiple lots coming from this community and have been impressed with every single one of them. This Chiroso lot is the same lot we used to celebrate our first birthday in 2024. We loved and missed it so much that we had to get more this year and again it tastes exaclty as it should; earl grey, honey and lemon. Delicious. The story about these little pearls or Las Perlitas in Spanish is a project that brings together smallholder farmers in Huila that produce lots that arenβt large enough to be exported on their own. However, the quality is often just as good (or better) than samples received from larger lots. The Coffee Quest buys all their coffee and separates it in larger lots based on flavor profile or variety to create outstanding microlots. This gives these farmers access to the specialty market, where they can get a fair and competitive price for the quality of their coffee. |
