Brew: Note[goal] test out my new Slinky OEPF profile and compare it to less successful recent experiences of static and high contact profiles. [prep] good RDT, WDT, slow feeding and solid spring self leveling tamp. [pull] matching the profile rather closely was relaxed and I hit the target weight within .3g. Resistance was good and overall time was ~ 40s even with slow up and down ramps. [milk] very good texture and sweetness htting 65C almost exactly. [art] I spent all my energy on the incorporation/missing and just dumped the milk at the end. Sad heart. [taste] really quite good. Perhaps not the best shot with this bean but in the top 3 which is impressive given it is at least a week past prime. I credit the very controlled and slow pre-infusion made possible by the low-contact, low-flow pre-infusion. The taste started off soft and rich, welcoming and then the sweetness and creaminess of the milk hit fading into a strong aggressive punch of darker lingering finish. I am not sure if the roast or the Baratza grinder is contributing the most to that slight harshness, but in this shot it wasn’t entirely unpleasant.
